PROFESSIONAL HISTORY

From 1990 to 1992, Greg Abbott was an attorney at Popham, Haik, Schnobrich, & Kaufman, Ltd., Minneapolis, practicing securities and asbestos property damage litigation.

During 1992-93, Mr. Abbott did postgraduate work in rhetoric and communication at the University of Texas at Austin,where he served as assistant debate coach and instructor in public speaking. During his coaching tenure, the University of Texas won its first combined national championship in speech and debate, as recognized by the American Forensic Association.

From 1993 to 1998, Mr. Abbott was a principal in the firm of Abbott & Baruch, Ltd., in Austin, Texas (1993-95), and Minneapolis (1996-98), practicing in the areas of employment, contract, copyright and trademark, and commercial litigation.

From 1998 to 2000, Mr. Abbott was an attorney at Weinblatt & Gaylord, PLC, in St. Paul, Minnesota. In addition to his previous areas, Mr. Abbott also practiced election law.

In 2000, Mr. Abbott took a leave of absence to serve as interim Campaign Manager for the U.S. Senate campaign of David Lillehaug, former U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota.

In 2001, Mr. Abbott was the D.F.L. (Democratic) candidate for Minneapolis City Council, 13th Ward. Mr. Abbott ran a strong campaign, receiving 45 percent of the vote against an incumbent in a district traditionally difficult for Democrats. Mr. Abbott ran nearly 20 points ahead of the incumbent Democratic mayor in his district.

In 2002, Mr. Abbott resumed the full-time practice of law, opening a new office in Minnetonka, MN in March 2003.
